🔹Shri Bangar instructed that, under the Cement Concretisation Road Project, Pavement Quality Concrete (PQC) work must be completed by 20th May 2025. A detailed day-wise plan must be drawn up for the limited remaining period and its strict implementation must be ensured to facilitate the daily completion of works.
🔹Finishing aspects of road construction – such as thermoplastic road markings, cat’s eyes, directional signage, traffic safety indicators and junction grids must be of the highest quality. There must be no compromise on the quality of the work. Rework shall be undertaken wherever necessary.
🔹As the completion of concrete road works progresses, all departments of the BMC have been firmly directed to accord utmost priority to ensuring that no inconvenience is caused to citizens during the monsoon season.
🔹Footpaths constructed alongside the concrete roads must be accessible and disabled-friendly, catering to the needs of all pedestrians, including persons with disabilities. The surface of the footpaths must be even and free of obstructions. Installation of tactile paving with vertical or horizontal lines – for the guidance of visually impaired individuals – is essential.
🔹Following the completion of PQC works by 20th May 2025, the remaining sections of the roads must be completed using mastic asphalt, as required. To this end, necessary planning must commence immediately. The availability of mastic and mastic cookers, the execution of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between suppliers and contractors and the deployment of skilled labour must be ensured, Shri Bangar added.
🔹The inspection was attended by Assistant Professor Shri Solomon Debbarma from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Mumbai), Chief Engineer (Roads and Traffic) Shri Girish Nikam and representatives from the Quality Control Agency.
